ANIMAL FRIENDLY VEGAN FASHION SINCE 2001

Truth Belts knows that fashion doesn’t have to be cruel to be cool. In this day and age, you can be both stylish and ethical. Truth belts are Canadian-made, tree planting vegan belts!

My intention with Truth was to create high-quality, vegan fashion while making a difference in this world – and to have a LOT of fun along the way!

For as long as I remember, I’ve loved creating things. In high school, I started designing my own clothes, and it opened up a whole new world for me.

I left my home town of Kitchener to study Fashion Design/Production at Ryerson University in Toronto.

After graduation, I worked for various companies, designing skiwear, backpacks, and soft-sided coolers. Along the way, I gained an extensive knowledge of man-made, technical materials and, when the time came to design and create products of my own, I naturally gravitated toward what I knew.

Truth Vegan Belts was Born

I started Truth in 2001. I made belts from my apartment in downtown Toronto.

I was determined to create a life I loved and at the same time, I wanted to do something that would make a difference to our planet.

Since I had no experience with leather, I made my belts out of what I like to call ‘Genuine Non-Leather’.

I thought it was a clever phrase and decided to stamp all of my ‘leather-look’ belts with this phrase on the back. Funny!

Over the years, as my approach to design has developed, my personal interests and lifestyle choices have also evolved – more and more, they aligned with and reinforce the innate philosophy of Truth.

I strongly believe as a business owner I can make choices that make a difference to our planet.

Mother nature needs our help right now. Nature is here to support humans and it seems like all we have done is abuse and exploit her to fulfill our own selfish desires. Us humans are currently behaving in a way no animal would ever treat their herd, flock, pod or swarm.

We have forgotten we are part of nature. That’s why I choose to have my products made in Canada and to use animal friendly materials.

BIG NEWS – NEW PRODUCT ON INDIEGOGO NOW UNTIL SEPT 13, 2022

I have been working on a new collection of belts and wallet made from CACTUS! This project started in 2020 when I customer put me onto a company in Mexico called Desserto. They have figured out a way to harvest the mature leaf of the Nopal cactus and make it into a material that looks and feel just like leather!

The belts have no holes. You can adjust them just 1mm or 1/16″. The inner layer is made from recycled are tires. Go to Indeigogo now and check it out! Be one of the first to own a belt made from cactus.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization has found beef production gives rise to more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry.

Did you know trees and forests are constantly being cut down to make room for cattle?

The Amazon forest has lost about 1/5th of its forest over the years to cattle ranching. The number of trees cut down in the Amazon is equal to an area the same size as Washington State.

Approximately 200 million pounds of beef is imported by the United States from Central America every year. The largest exporter of beef is Brazil. In the past, North American and Europe were the ones importing this beef. But nowadays China and Russia are consuming more and more beef than ever before.

With increasing population and increased per capita meat consumption, the rate of deforestation is increasing every day as well.

The livestock/leather industry is the largest contributor of pollution to our planet. The production of a leather hide is about 20 times more than the production of a synthetic material. Find out more in this interesting article on the topic.

Trees are an important part of our eco-system – here’s why…

The cutting down of trees is one of the main reasons why the temperature of our planet is rising. Trees are the air conditioners for our planet. They play an important part by removing carbon dioxide from the air, while releasing oxygen back into the air.

They absorb odours and pollutant gasses by trapping them on their leaves and bark. They create shade so that the sun rays to not hit the ground. To find out more about benefits of trees click here.

It is my wish humans start waking up and realize we are part of nature. Our planet is an intelligent being, currently in a state of agitation. By choosing a vegan/vegetarian diet you are making a difference! By supporting companies such as this one, you are making a difference.

When you purchase a belt on this site, one tree will be planted

Truth Belts has teamed up with an amazing organization called One Tree Planted. One tree will be planted each time you purchase one of our super cool belts. You can also donate to the Plant One Tree offer on the Truth Belts website to have one tree (or as many as you choose) planted.

So far over 1600 trees have been planted! Find out the details of where exactly trees were planted so far and when by clicking here.

MAPS – Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary

I am a supporter of the MAPS treaty. The Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary establishes all ocean waters north of the Arctic Circle as a marine protected area, free from oil drilling and all other exploitation. The Arctic polar ice is our planet’s air conditioning system. It secures balances weather patterns globally so that we may have the food and resources we need to survive. But now it faces an extraordinary threat. Please take a moment to sign the MAPS petition at www.parvati.org and share with your tribe.

I have a volunteered on and off over the years for Parvati.org, the non-profit organization who created the MAPS treaty.

There is no greater joy for me than creating Truth products and sharing them with you. Thank you for stopping by.

Yours in health, consciousness and cool vegan fashion,
